The Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA) COI Site’s Research on synesthetic media group successfully opened an unprecedented exhibition titled “Virtual Department of Games”, in a traditional setting of Chinretsukan Gallery at TUA last year. This year, we will organize “Department of Games – Vertical Slice” at Arts & Science LAB. This exhibition is based on the question “what if there were a Department of Games at TUA?”. We selected five students from TUA’s graduate school as directors to exhibit their works as the product of “zero year” researchers. It is co-hosted with the TUA’s COI Site, who are aiming to widen the possibility and concept of games, to redefine it as “a place for expressing combined arts”. We spent about six months on this challenge to create contents and we are now ready to showcase our works to you.
