A dancer becomes a pianist!? – on 22 November, a unique concert – the kind which has never been seen – “Mai, Hi-Ten-Yu” will be held in the Sogakudo Concert Hall of the Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA). Organized in cooperation with the “Arts Innovation Project” (AIP), a general incorporated association, and Yamaha Corporation, this is a part of the official program to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the foundation of TUA.
The world-renowned Berlin Philharmonic octet Scharoun Ensemble, and Kaiji Moriyama, an international dancer, will collaborate on stage. Moriyama’s physical expressions will be captured by a sensor to translate his movements to “play” the Disklavier (piano that performs automatically). Where is the evolution of AI performance system taking us? How will the new relationship between man and music develop? – come and witness this amazing performance integrating state-of-the-art scientific technology and traditional arts.
