On 3 - 4 July, Takashi Fukai, Sub Project Leader and six others visited the Delft University of Technology and the Kröller-Müller Museum as part of a joint research with the NICAS (Netherlands Institute for Conservation, Art and Science).
The aim of this visit was first to hand over a copy (Clone Cultural Property) of the "Tower of Babel" by Pieter Bruegel I, created by the Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA) by reflecting the results of scientific analysis at the Delft University of Technology, and second to examine the future direction of research and development.
At the Delft University of Technology, we had a discussion about the original coloring paints, using samples brought from TUA, in relation to Vincent Van Gogh's paintings which is often controversial.
We had visited the Kröller-Müller Museum the previous day, which has an unparalleled collection of Vincent Van Gogh’s works. In future, we are expected to produce Clone Cultural Property by integrating even more detailed scientific analysis and reproduction techniques, with the cooperation from the likes of Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
