JST Fair 2018, Geidai COI created a ‘different dimension’ exhibition & performance

For two days on 30 & 31 August, “JST Fair 2018” was held at Tokyo Big Sight, and The Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA) participated in the COI program booth again this year.

TUA COI Site’s booth attracts much attention every year. This time, we welcomed an original android and Narimichi Kawabata, professional violinist, in our 10m-sized exhibition booth, to do a “futuristic concert”. The booth was colored red and black. On the big screen in the center of our booth, an animation by a world-renowned creator was played on an AI-based “score-following” technology, alongside a live performance of Vivaldi’s “Spring” from “The Four Seasons”. The four sets of performance over two days (including the open rehearsal) of “the future” in which AI, android and humankind coexist, received a round of applause from an overflowing number of visitors and we had very good reviews. TUA staff including Oko Arai, Project Professor who acted as the MC, had the same “black x red” dress code. Inside the booth, we also arranged to spray a scent with an image of “red”.
