‘Site Visit’ by the COI Governing Members

We welcomed 20 visitors from the COI program visionary team and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for a Site Visit on 4 July.

To welcome the delegation, President Kazuki Sawa played a beautiful violin piece alongside an AI-based synchronization system which plays the piano accompaniment, at the opening.

Following the remarks by the Visionary Leader Mr Satoshi Koike, each research group gave an update on their progress, including from Koshi Yamamoto, Project Leader; Takashi Kiriyama, Research Leader; Kei Arai, Sub Research Leader / Seeds & Needs Research Manager and others. A total of nearly 70 people attended the meeting, including COI member organizations and Yasushi Sano, Director of the Public Collaboration Center at the Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA).

In the afternoon, the delegation inspected the research and development labs, and Visionary Leader Mr Koike experienced the AI-based piano accompaniment system, with the support of Group Leader Oko Arai. When he played a beautiful piece using only one finger, the attendees gave a round of applause.

On each floor, young researchers had prepared an interesting exhibition of various state-of-the-art research projects such as the production of the Clone Cultural Property, the 3D hologram exhibit in a dark room and the TUA original android and explained them in detail.

Dr Ryozo Nagai, Senior Visionary Leader was also able to visit us, and in the end, we had to extend the time for discussions. It was a meaningful day for us to prepare to move further ahead.
